A few weeks ago, while scrolling through 2DopeBoyz, I came across this song by aDDLib called “Disappear”. Immediately, I felt a connection to the song because of the message. It felt like he took a page from my mental diary (I don’t do journals) and changed a few words so they’d fit a song structure. There was one line in particular that stuck out to me as soon as I heard it; and that line, among other things, was the inspiration for this editorial. After much contemplation, I’ve decided to share some of the lessons I’ve learned from battling depression for eleven years.
When I found out about the recent passing of DJ Primo, my heart was deeply burdened. Although I wasn’t too familiar with his work and ministry, unfortunately, I’m all too familiar with the cause of his death. Whenever I hear about someone committing suicide, something inside of me feels grateful and guilty that it wasn’t me. That’s why I now feel compelled to speak/write candidly about my depression.
