Remembering Whitney Houston: The Smile, The Voice, The Legend

Although I’m currently taking a break from blogging, I would be remiss if I didn’t come back and pay tribute to one of the greatest voices of our time– of all time. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my mother and I dancing around the house to The Preacher’s Wife soundtrack (“Step by Step” was our favorite). More moving than her impeccable range was the sincerity with which she sang every note. Sis could belt out a ballad and climb through the scales with only the slightest effort. But it seems, these days, that we can’t talk about her talent without discussing her trials. There’s no denying that Whitney Houston had her share of problems, but that’s part of the package that comes with being alive and being human.

I can’t imagine having the highs and lows of my life play out in the press, but that’s the cross that one must bear with fame and (mis)fortune. Those who shine brightly can only do so when surrounded by darkness. Well, I refuse to have my memories dimmed by negative people. Whitney Houston is a legend and she will be remembered for her beautiful smile and unmatched  talent. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends at this time — especially her daughter. While others dwell on the bad, let’s take some time out to reflect on the good.

We will always love you!

Enjoy your sweet rest.

P.S. – I would LOVE it if they brought out Cece for a tribute!
